And now... for my first magic trick!

One of my issues with life in the blogging lane is... how to share. If I make a stunning blog entry on the nuances of Netscape add-ons, how do I share with both my Tech Notes peeps, AND with my LJ peeps?

How oh how will this work?

I'm thinking I'll create (and spellcheck) this in ScribeFire, then copy, then post once to TTocsland, and then once to TechNotes.

Wish me luck.

Technology... making life easier!

Ok... huh. Just messed around with a plug-in / add-on for Netscape/Firefox called ScribeFire... seems to allow me to blog from my browser window. Cool.

Only thing that seems to be missing is a macro signature feature that Semagic offers, but this is my second post sow we'll see.

Let's NOT go phishing...

Because, really - aren't you happy with your own identity?
Check out Wikipedia's entry on phishing to find out the basics, then follow these good ideas to keep yourself prepared.

And thanks to Brendan for letting me know that the good guys use sophisticated AI programs to ponder the activities on financial accounts, and raise red flags when odd things are noticed.

Glad to be back on the air after our 'fishing' trip - tune in next week for more fun with Tech Notes Radio!

Show #14-Fix it or lose it?

Hi,

I think we should chat a bit about what happens when your PC just won't work. Maybe it is your laptop or digital camera.

I responded to a few questions that were sent in via email to the show.
The first was in response to Adware and Spyware. Yuk! The user was asking what to do to avoid either of these on their Windows XP OS computer. So I checked out two software sites Webroot Spy Sweeper
and Sunbelt Software.
These were two easy to use affordable Spyware management tools for your pc.
Sunbelt's Counter Spy V.2 was around $20.00 for one pc. Integrated nicely with Windows Vista.
Kernel level protection as well as scan and remove on boot utility.
Webroot has free customer support with a purchase of their Spysweeper product. $29.95 for one pc.
Both of these products are Windows compatible.

These were the base requirements for both products, see below.

Minimum System Requirements

  • Windows 2000, Vista (32 bit versions of Home Basic, Premium, Business, or Ultimate), or XP (32 bit versions of Professional, Home, Media Center, or XP Tablet)
  • 300 Mhz processor
  • 100 MB hard drive space
  • 256 MB RAM
  • Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher or FireFox 2.0 or higher for connecting to the Webroot web site.
  • Download Size: 12.4 MB

Feel free to call in if you have a rescue story or question 919-929-9601.
